10.4 km

I guess, I haven’t spoken about Phoenix Park yet, it is the largest park in Europe, when I got-up on saturday morning, it was a beautiful day, it was as a beautiful weather as rare over here, so I thought, I need to go outside to enjoy it.

I didn’t think that Phoenix Park was so big, ok, I’ve already heard about it, that it is the largest park in Europe, nevertheless, in my mind, everything was small over here, but, I was completely wrong! It is really huge!

After go jogging, I made my mind up to go back from Phoenix Park to my home on foot, it was fairly tiring, really I needed workout, since I arrived in Dublin I didn’t have any physical exercise. Definitely it was a long journey, my body was warm, so I didn’t feel any pain, when it cooled down my legs, knees and ankles were completely painful.

I was curious about the distance between the park to the goal, I checked it up at Google Maps, it was impressive! I walked 10.4 km! If I do that every saturday, soon my body will fit as a fiddle!

Follows the URL, it is a simulation about my walk of saturday.

How things are going over here.

My personal DNS is unfortunately down, so for a short time I’ll write down about my daily life in Dublin at wordpress.com.

Since I arrived in Dublin, I’ve tried to save money up, at least till I get a job. Keeping myself here is really tough and dear. I’ve figured out how is necessary to be careful with my money; by the way, Dublin is one of the most expensive cities in the world, whatever you want you need to pay. In addition, I need to keep my eye in the ball, last week a Brazilian girl had her wallet stolen by foreing people.

Although Dublin is a relatively small city, it is quite common for people to face a long tailback during hush hour, it is ten times smaller than Sao Paulo, however with similar problems.

Hey!, I don’t intend to let you down, though we have to face bad times, recession spread in around the world, street peddlers, beggars. Surely, I’ve found great things in this side of Atlantic to write down as well.

If I had to choose the best place in city centre, it would be a tough job man!
Dublin is a city with a big range of entertainment, with a wide variety of restaurants, Cafes, pubs, libraries, art galleries, etc.

In The Temple bar area, both Irish and foreign people are look for fun, usually in pubs and restaurants. Temple Bar is vibrant, colourful and definitely an attractive place. By the way, I met a former co-worker (AKA Polas) by chance at the Temple Bar Pub, it was really nice!

To suspect that the Temple Bar could be the favorite Dubliner’s meeting point, would be an understatement. Certainly it is the most coveted place, mainly on Saturday night.

Some advice about Temple Bar, is not a good idea stroll over there alone, mainly at night. We can easily find tipsy or drunk guys looking for trouble.

I haven’t made my mind up yet about the best place in Dublin. I think it is quite relative, depends a lot on what you are looking for, perhaps St. Stephens Green Park could be a great option to watch the world go by, to stroll and enjoy a sunny afternoon, if it is possible sure, due to the unsettled weather.

Here follows another advice, never trust the weather forecast, wind gusts change the weather everytime, it is utterly impossible to guess!

Grafton Street is another interesting place and it must be known, it is near St. Stephens Green Park, everything in city centre is really close, by contrast, I’ve lived in Lucan, suburb of Dublin and it is far away, more or less 45 minutes from city centre.

I guess that Grafton Street is the busker’s favorite place, it is a musical pedestrian street, buskers really make the difference, it has a special atmosphere. Everyday we can find out differents both instruments and songs, it is really a peculiar place.
